Hi!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer full of relaxation, sun and fun!
I know this blog is a quiet, quiet place but I still have every intention of spending more time here someday soon. I'm still sewing all the time, but I'm not a blogger that can handle my busy family and blogging. Now that the kids are bigger there always seems like so much to do. I go to bed each day feeling even more behind on the mental list I have going than I was the day before. :)
I just wanted to pop in and answer a question I am getting A LOT in my email. If you have emailed me this question without a response, I'm sorry. There have just been so many of them I've given up on replying to each one individually (I was for awhile). Also, if you've emailed and haven't heard a response from me, I don't check my blog email each day now that I don't blog often. When I do check it I try to get back to the folks with sewing issues first!
Ok, the question. Why can't I pin your tutorials?! Thank you to those of you who have asked this politely! :) To be honest, a few people have been quite rude about it.
I understand in this new Pinterest obsession this could be quite frustrating. I hear you. And, I thank you for liking a tutorial enough that you want to pin it! Right now though I have decided not to allow pinning on this blog. Mainly because of my own neurotic reasons that may not make sense to many, but this is what I've decided none the less. I know I put the content out there to begin with, so I should be ok with my stuff being pinned all over the place, right? Well, maybe I should be, but I'm not. I'm happy with this cozy little corner of the internet. For those who have pointed out I am losing traffic, that's ok with me. I love that you are all here and pop in from time to time, especially when I used to put so much work into this blog, but this blog is not a money maker for me. I hope that some of you will still find the tutorials here useful and will want to bookmark them!
Yes, you may find the odd project on Pinterest. Many of you learned about Pinterest and started using it far before I knew what it was all about. Projects that were pinned before are still kicking around and I don't think there is anyway I can remove them.
Anyway, that's all for now. :) Thank you for reading!

I was so glad to stumble across your post today, I have loved your blog for quite a while but hadn't checked in lately since I knew you were taking a break for a while.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your losses last year. I know that pain all too well. I wish you the best and look forward to reading your posts when you are up to them again!
I completely understand your decision to not allow pinning. I freaked when I saw a picture of my baby pinned, but it was for a crocheted hat she was wearing (still made me rethink pinning). I do think you can contact Pinterest and ask them to remove stuff from your site. I don't know how they go about doing it, but it may be an option! Take care and thanks for posting the wonderful tutorials in the first place!
ReplyDeleteI can totally understand about not wanting your things to end up on Pinterest! I can't even bring myself to have a blog, I'm so private. I do love your sewing blog and have learned so much from it. I love your tutorials and have used several of them. I had worried a while ago that you would eventually take your blog down and then where would I find all the good tips and sewing instructions and nobody else has done such good tutorials as yours! So I'm glad to hear that you don't plan to take your blog down permanently! I'll look forward to the day you decide you're up for more blogging. Take care!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see you pop up in the reader!
ReplyDeleteYou can contact pinterest and they will remove a link, all you have to do is click the link that says "report pin" and the next link that says "this is my intellectual property."
Can't wait to see all of your sewing!!!
Glad to hear from you. I totally get you not wanting your stuff on Pinterest. It is a little weird to see pictures of my kiddos on there and my blog is super small compared to yours so your famiy would be even more out there. I still visit yor tutorials page often and will continue to do so if I want to follow your great tips. I hope that you and your family are have a great summer! :)
ReplyDeleteNo apologies necessary! I've always loved your tutorials! Enjoy your blog vacation!
ReplyDeleteHi From an Igloo,
ReplyDeleteI just recently found your blog and have enjoyed looking at many of the tutorials. Thank you!!
theres no need to apologise..its your blog, your pic, your everything. you should decide where it goes...it just hope it just doesnt go away...coz it full of great ideas, tips, tutes etc...looking forward to seeing more of you...
ReplyDeleteThere's no need for apoligies!! Thank you very much for all what you give/share with us!!!! Enjoy your quiet life ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, I agree completely with that issue. I always loved stopping in here to see what you have been sewing. It'd be great for you to just share your latest sewing projects sometimes, lots of people (like me!) find it interesting and inspiring just to see what someone else is making, there doesn't need to be a tutorial or instructions along with. I did make that dress and matching barbie dress of yours way back when, they turned out very cute! Thankyou for sharing, Shauna
ReplyDelete(I am a northern wife and Mom too - actually from what i gathered from what you've shared about your area, I live 2 hours away from you!)
I have read many blogs in the past, but to tell you the truth since i came across this one i found that it really stands out. People need to post more quality content like this.
ReplyDeleteI will say that Pinterest brought me to your site initially and while I'd love to pin from it, I completely respect your decision and have no problem bookmarking pages because I love your projects and thorough tutorials. So I'm still thankful to Pinterest for introducing me to your work :)
