A Cute Little Dress

Now that I haven’t been blogging so much, aside from working on a big project, I’ve had a chance to sew a few things from patterns.

This is the Hannah Dress from the pattern maker Yeppar, on Etsy. Truly one perfect pattern for my big girl. She is no longer a fan of princesses or anything twirly. This dress pleases both me, and her.

A little more tailored looking than your average little girl’s dress. A crisp clean collar and flared short sleeves.

The front on the dress goes quite low, but the front button piece can be moved higher or lower as needed. The lowness of the front could have been in part to the roomy fit of the dress on my girl. I could have easily made a size smaller for my string bean.
There are a few pleats on the front…

And they’re mirrored on the back.
If you like this pattern too, there are a few things you should know…
  • The pieces do not include seam allowances, and some of the pieces call for different seam allowances.
  • I think there is an easier way to do the armholes. Read through the instructions completely before beginning and you may think that too.
  • Even though I have a thin child, I feel the pattern is roomy. Take measurements, you might want to size down.
A tip from me…
If you think a dress might be roomy, or could fit into the next year, when cutting it out add an extra inch to the hem.
I forgot to take a photo but I made a deep 1 inch hem. Because this dress is so roomy on her, next year I can undo my hem and make it smaller, adding length to the dress.

Her personality in a nutshell. :)

I bought this pattern, and Yeppar has no idea who I am. Just wanted to share a pattern I liked.

  3. I just made this dress for my 2yo last week as well! Because of her age, I opted to sew one side of the tab to the dress so that it wouldn't get lost with curious hands :)

  4. This came out really nice! I have never heard of this shop before and they have great stuff. I just saved them to my favorites. I think that this roomy dress might be perfect for my chunky monkeys! I love the "big girl" smile with the missing teeth! :)

  8. Hi

Yeppar's patterns are not original. She did not make the patterns herself, her designs are all taken from Japanese pattern book/magazine, I saw mostly from 'Cucito Summer 2010' and 'Girly Style Wardrobe'.

You can see what I am talking about, this same dress pattern appeared in Cucito Summer 2010

  17. I came across your blog while looking for owl toque patterns of all things. Love the blog. Your sewing is beautiful!! You've inspired me to make some dresses for my little girl. :) I live in small town in Northern Alberta and find sewing and creating theraputic in the winter. I'm curious to see what the big project you're working on is.
    Cheers and happy sewing!
